Feds Want Book Buying Records from Amazon
Newly unsealed court records have revealed that the U.S. government
issued a subpoena to Amazon.com seeking to obtain the identities of customers
purchasing books through the Amazon marketplace.

parents face possible prison under a new law passed by worried politicians. The
law, passed late on Thursday, reflects concerns that rapid modernization and a
growth in nuclear families is undermining a centuries-old social fabric of

Easter Island Stone Heads are 'Dying'
"The moai are dying by natural causes," said archaeologist Sergio
Rapu, a lifelong researcher of this isolated South Pacific island of hills and
extinct volcanoes also known as Rapa Nui. "The prehistoric Rapa Nui people noted
it would take 300 to 400 years for the statues to become completely eroded."
Colorado Church Gunman 'Hated Christians'
The gunman believed to have killed
four people at a mega-church and a missionary training school had been thrown
out of the school about three years ago and had been sending the place hate
mail, police said in court papers Monday.
FBI Backing Plan For Vegas Mob Museum
Las Vegas is building a museum about some of its founding fathers
and most influential figures — guys with names like Bugsy, Lefty and Lansky.
The project has gained the support of the FBI and is guided by a retired FBI
agent. They say they are involved because you can't tell the stories of Benjamin
"Bugsy" Siegel, his banker, Lansky, casino boss Frank "Lefty" Rosenthal and
others without telling the story of the lawmen who pursued them.
Gore Accepts Nobel Peace Prize
Saying it's "time to make peace with the planet," Al Gore accepted
the Nobel Peace Prize on Monday with a call for humanity to rise up against a
looming climate crisis and stop waging war on the environment.
More than Half of Amazon will be Lost by 2030
Climate change could speed up the large-scale destruction of the
Amazon rainforest and bring the "point of no return" much closer than previously
thought, conservationists warned today. Almost 60% of the region's forests
could be wiped out or severely damaged by 2030, as a result of climate change
and deforestation, according to a report published today by WWF.

San Francisco Filed Suit Over Cosco Busan Spill

Hands Off Christmas, Say Religious Leaders
Hindus, Sikhs and Muslims joined Britain's equality watchdog Monday
in urging Britons to enjoy Christmas without worrying about offending
non-Christians. "It's time to stop being daft about Christmas. It's fine to
celebrate and it's fine for Christ to be star of the show," said Trevor
Phillips, chairman of the Equality and Human Rights Commission.

grounds it is disrespectful to Christianity.

The authorities of the Kishertsky district of Russia, where the
famous anomalous zone Molebka is situated, have decided to turn the district
