Ezekiel'S WHIRLWIND

Ezekiel has two extensive encounters with this vehicle and its many mechanical devices.  This is the description of the first encounter.

MOVING DEVICES
            1: 5  Also out of the midst thereof came the likeness of four living creatures. And this was their appearance; they had the likeness of a man.
            From the metallic center came four moving devices that appeared human-like.

WINGS
            1:6  And every one had four faces, and every one had four wings.
            The devices had parts that resembled wings and faces.

HIGHLY POLISHED COPPER
            1:7  And their feet were straight feet; and the sole of their feet was like the sole of a calf's foot: and they sparkled like the colour of burnished brass.
            The bottom section of the devices were straight, the lowest part like a hoof, and were of highly polished shiny copper.

DEVICES LIKE HANDS 
            1:8  And they had the hands of a man under their wings on their four sides; and they four had their faces and their wings.
            Under the wings were parts like hands.

JOINED WINGS  
            1: 9  Their wings were joined one to another; they turned not when they went; they went every one straight forward.
            The devices were connected.  The devices did not turn when they changed direction.

ANIMATED DEVICES
            1:10  As for the likeness of their faces, they four had the face of a man, and the face of a lion, on the right side: and they four had the face of an ox on the left side; they four also had the face of an eagle.
            The face parts had the likeness of a man, a lion, an ox, and an eagle.

PAIRS OF WINGS
            1:11  Thus were their faces: and their wings were stretched upward; two wings of every one were joined one to another, and two covered their bodies.
            The wings were spread upward and the wings were connected together.

ANOMALOUS MOVEMENT
            1:12  And they went every one straight forward: whither the spirit was to go, they went; and they turned not when they went.
            The devices went where the flying craft went without turning.

GLOWING DEVICES
            1:13  As for the likeness of the living creatures, their appearance was like burning coals of fire, and like the appearance of lamps: it went up and down among the living creatures; and the fire was bright, and out of the fire went forth lightning.
            The devices were glowing and there were bright flashing lights in the center of them.  

FLASHING DEVICES
            1:14  And the living creatures ran and returned as the appearance of a flash of lightning.
            The devices were flashing and moving back and forth.  

WHEEL ON THE GROUND
             1:15  Now as I beheld the living creatures, behold one wheel upon the earth by the living creatures, with his four faces.
            There was a wheel on the ground beside the devices.

A WHEEL IN A WHEEL
            1:16  The appearance of the wheels and their work was like unto the colour of a beryl: and they four had one likeness: and their appearance and their work was as it were a wheel in the middle of a wheel.
            The wheels had the workmanship of a gem and the arrangement of a wheel inside a wheel.

WHEELS MOVING
            1:17  When they went, they went upon their four sides: and they turned not when they went.
            The wheels did not turn when they moved.

RIMS FULL OF EYES
            1:18  As for their rings, they were so high that they were dreadful; and their rings were full of eyes round about them four.
            The rims of the wheels were grand and awesome and had the appearance of eyes all around.

WHEELS  ASCENDED
             1:19  And when the living creatures went, the wheels went by them: and when the living creatures were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up. 
            Wheels ascend with the devices. 

SPIRIT IN THE WHEELS         
            1:20  Whithersoever the spirit was to go, they went, thither was their spirit to go; and the wheels were lifted up over against them: for the spirit of the living creature was in the wheels.
            All the parts move together.  

SYNCHRONIZED MOVEMENT
            1:21  When those went, these went; and when those stood, these stood; and when those were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up over against them: for the spirit of the living creature was in the wheels.     
The wheels lifted when the devices when the devices were lifted.  

DEVICES UNDER THE MAIN BODY
            1:23  And under the firmament were their wings straight, the one toward the other: every one had two, which covered on this side, and every one had two, which covered on that side, their bodies.
            The wings under the expanse were straight and moved towards one another.

LOUD WHEELS AND WINGS            
            3:13  I heard also the noise of the wings of the living creatures that touched one another, and the noise of the wheels over against them, and a noise of a great rushing.
            The wings of the devices and wheels are emitting loud noise.

WHEELS AND GLOWING OBJECTS
            10:2  And he spake unto the man clothed with linen, and said, Go in between the wheels, even under the cherub, and fill thine hand with coals of fire from between the cherubims, and scatter them over the city. And he went in my sight.
            A being clothed in white tells Ezekiel to go to the center of the devices.

STATIONED CHERUBIMS
            10:3  Now the cherubims stood on the right side of the house, when the man went in; and the cloud filled the inner court.
            House = residence.

LOUD WINGS
            10:5  And the sound of the cherubims' wings was heard even to the outer court, as the voice of the Almighty God when he speaketh.
            The sound of the wings resemble the sound of God. Voice = sound.

WHEELS AND CHERUBIM
            10:6  And it came to pass, that when he had commanded the man clothed with linen, saying, Take fire from between the wheels, from between the cherubims; then he went in, and stood beside the wheels. 
            There are glowing objects between the wheels.

MOVING DEVICES  
            10:7  And one cherub stretched forth his hand from between the cherubims unto the fire that was between the cherubims, and took thereof, and put it into the hands of him that was clothed with linen: who took it, and went out.
            The indication the cherubim literally grabs a glowing object and literally hands it could be Ezekiel's interpretation of the movements of a mechanical device.  See next verse.

HAND-LIKE DEVICES
             10:8  And there appeared in the cherubims the form of a man's hand under their wings.
            Form = shape.          

GOLDEN WHEELS
            10:9  And when I looked, behold the four wheels by the cherubims, one wheel by one cherub, and another wheel by another cherub: and the appearance of the wheels was as the colour of a beryl stone.
            Beryl stone = gold colored gemstone.

A WHEEL IN A WHEEL
            10:10  And as for their appearances, they four had one likeness, as if a wheel had been in the midst of a wheel.
            All four devices are alike.

MECHANICAL MOVEMENTS
            10:11  When they went, they went upon their four sides; they turned not as they went, but to the place whither the head looked they followed it; they turned not as they went.
            The devices exhibit mechanical synchronicity. 

WHEELS FULL OF EYES
            10:12  And their whole body, and their backs, and their hands, and their wings, and the wheels, were full of eyes round about, even the wheels that they four had.
            The eyes Ezekiel is describing might be small lights although his meaning is not clear.

SPINNING WHEEL
            10:13  As for the wheels, it was cried unto them in my hearing, O wheel.
            Wheel = whirlwind.

STRANGE FACES
            10:14  And every one had four faces: the first face was the face of a cherub, and the second face was the face of a man, and the third the face of a lion, and the fourth the face of an eagle.
            Ezekiel's description of the faces on the devices could possibly be his way of describing metallic mechanical parts.

ASCENDING CHERUBIMS
            10:15  And the cherubims were lifted up. This is the living creature that I saw by the river of Chebar.
            This is the same craft Ezekiel first described in chapter 1.

ASCENDING WHEELS
            110:6  And when the cherubims went, the wheels went by them: and when the cherubims lifted up their wings to mount up from the earth, the same wheels also turned not from beside them.
             All the parts of the devices are synchronized.

SYNCHRONIZED AERIAL MOVEMENT
            10:17  When they stood, these stood; and when they were lifted up, these lifted up themselves also: for the spirit of the living creature was in them.
            Everything is ascending in unison.

appearance of a hand
            10:21  Every one had four faces apiece, and every one four wings; and the likeness of the hands of a man was under their wings.
            Parts on the devices look like hands.

            LEVITICUS  16:2  And the Lord said unto Moses, Speak unto Aaron thy brother, that he come not at all times into the holy place within the vail before the mercy seat, which is upon the ark; that he die not:  for I will appear in the cloud upon the mercy seat.

            PSALMS  80:1  Give ear, O Shepherd of Israel, thou that leadest Joseph like a flock; thou that dwellest between the 

            LEVITICUS 16:2  And the Lord said unto Moses, Speak unto Aaron thy brother, that he come not at all times into the holy place within the vail before the mercy seat, which is upon the ark; that he die not:  for I will appear in the cloud upon the mercy seat.

            NUMBERS  7:89  And when Moses was gone into the tabernacle of the congregation to speak with him, then he heard the voice of one speaking unto him from off the mercy seat that was upon the ark of testimony, from between the two cherubims: and he spake unto him.

            JOSHUA 3:15. And as they that bare the ark were come unto Jordan, and the feet of the priests that bare the ark were dipped in the brim of the water, (for Jordan overfloweth all his banks all the time of harvest,)  16  That the waters which came down from above stood and rose up upon an heap very far from the city Adam, that is beside Zaretan: and those that came down toward the sea of the plain, even the salt sea, failed, and were cut off: and the people passed over right against Jericho.  17   And the priests that bare the ark of the covenant of the Lord stood firm on dry ground in the midst of Jordan, and all the Israelites passed over on dry ground, until all the people were passed clean over Jordan.

            1 SAMUEL 5:11  So they sent and gathered together all the lords of the Philistines, and said, Send away the ark of the God of Israel, and let it go again to his own place, that it slay us not, and our people: for there was a deadly destruction throughout all the city; the hand of God was very heavy there.

            1 SAMUEL 6:6   And when they came to Nachon's threshingfloor, Uzzah put forth his hand to the ark of God, and took hold of it; for the oxen shook it.  7  And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Uzzah; and God smote him there for his error; and there he died by the ark of God.

THE ROD OF MOSES 

            EXODUS 4:17  And thou shalt take this rod in thine hand, wherewith thou shalt do signs.

            EXODUS 7:20  And Moses and Aaron did so, as the LORD commanded; and he lifted up the rod, and smote the waters that were in the river, in the sight of Pharaoh, and in the sight of his servants; and all the waters that were in the river were turned to blood.

            EXODUS 8:15  And the LORD spake unto Moses, Say unto Aaron, Stretch forth thine hand with thy rod over the streams, over the rivers, and over the ponds, and cause frogs to come up upon the land of Egypt.

            EXODUS 8:16  And the LORD said unto Moses, Say unto Aaron, Stretch out thy rod, and smite the dust of the land, that it may become lice throughout all the land of Egypt. And they did so; for Aaron stretched out his hand with his rod, and smote the dust of the earth, and it became lice in man, and in beast; all the dust of the land became lice throughout all the land of Egypt.

            EXODUS  9:23  And Moses stretched forth his rod toward heaven: and the Lord sent thunder and hail, and the fire ran along upon the ground; and the Lord rained hail upon the land of Egypt.  24  So there was hail, and fire mingled with the hail, very grievous, such as there was none like it in all the land of Egypt since it became a nation.

            EXODUS 10:13  And Moses stretched forth his rod over the land of Egypt, and the LORD brought an east wind upon the land all that day, and all that night; and when it was morning, the east wind brought the locusts

            EXODUS 14:16  But lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea.

            NUMBERS 20:8  Take the rod, and gather thou the assembly together, thou, and Aaron thy brother, and speak ye unto the rock before their eyes; and it shall give forth his water, and thou shalt bring forth to them water out of the rock: so thou shalt give the congregation and their beasts drink

            NUMBERS 20:11  And Moses lifted up his hand, and with his rod he smote the rock twice: and the water came out abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their beasts also.
